Outsmarting Einstein

“A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.”
― Albert Einstein

Greetings Wise Souls,

We can’t always avoid problems so Einstein can shove it! It’s been a rainy weekend here in NYC as we progress from “Third Winter” into “The Pollening.” Every state (except Hawaii and most of Arizona) has Daylight Savings to not look forward to next Sunday so get those sunglasses ready and put away keep out your winter coats.

Onward to this week’s NWSLTTR!

Something Sold:

My friend Malia has a street fashion company that sells hats, sweatshirts, baby clothes, jackets, you name it - with googly eyes. Peep the googly eye stickers all over pipes and hydrants in NYC. Join the googly eye cru!

Something News:

This week we lost another great, Richard Lewis. From Robin Hood: Men in Tights to Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lewis battled anxiety and depression and used therapy as a recurring theme in his standup. Using humor and brevity imo, is a clever way to destigmatize mental health. Here’s to you Richard for being authentic, and thank you for all the laughs.

Some Things Followed:

Data and Geography reimagined: Two great factual Instagram feeds that reimagine chart presentations and map renderings are chartrdaily and thinkaboutmaps. A very cool way to digest BIG info.

Some Thing to Do:

See “Jack Off Broadway”

If you’re in New York, I highly recommend Jack Tucker Comedy Standup Hour at the Soho Playhouse. Pre/Post/During-show roller skating Dylan Woodley and an unhinged, ridiculous standup set from Zach Zucker (playing Jack Tucker). Most impressive to me is the clever interplay between Zach and the tech booth. Tix.

If you’re elsewhere than NY, keep your eyes peeled for the traveling variety show he hosts called Stamptown. I played the gig at Just For Laughs and it is an absolute shiteshow of talent and absurdity. Last I saw it, I witnessed a well-known Broadway producer (Rent/AveQ/Heights) hobnobbing afterward so let’s just say it’s going places. Show dates and Mailing List.

That’s it for this week, keep it CLVR!

have a clever week!
